Periphery are a talented bunch, there's no question about that. Every member of that band shines on each record and beyond their releases being a showcase of their musical ability, it speaks greatly about their means of coming together to form one cohesive composition. Now, what if their progressive mastery was applied to different metal subgenres, say black or death metal? Through the newly conceived Haunted Shores, Periphery guitarists Misha Mansoor and Mark Holcomb answer that question. The duo's debut full-length, Void, arrives on March 11th via 3DOT Recordings and there wouldn't be a proper announcement without a taste of what to expect. For that, we have Hellfire, a track named properly for the instrumentation embodied within is truly the stuff of nightmares. No growls or aggressive screams are needed here and with a cover illustration by Paolo Girardi that wicked, Mansoor and Holcomb have properly entered the darker realm of metal's expansive ranks.
