The Irrepressible Superheroes

Jamie Irrepressible returns, after a 6-year hiatus of collaborations, with a third album from his creative guise The Irrepressibles. Titled "Superheroes", the new sonic work takes cues from the Prog, Kraut-Rock and Electronica movements which influenced him during his time living in Berlin, as well as in his teenage years. Telling the story of a poignant and heroic homosexual love, "Superheroes" is a fantasy concept album about the boy within us that always remains, learns to heal, and eventually falls in love.

This album follows Jamie’s impressively eclectic body of work as an artist, including two critically acclaimed albums ("Mirror Mirror" from 2010, and "Nude" from 2012) that were seminal works in the recent Chamber Pop and LGBTQ+ movements. Jamie’s distinct vocals have led to collaborations in electronic music with like-minded creatives such as ionnalee and touring and recording with Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp on the album "The Inevitable End" (2014).

"Superheroes" is scheduled to be released on May 22nd through Of Naked Design Records. The Special Edition Double Vinyl will also include the 3-track EP "This Time I'll Let Go of Fear", the prelude to "Superheroes".

Via social media, Jamie McDermott announced the delay of the release of the new album.

In the note, he says that: "In these times I’m sure you can understand the difficulties we all encounter."

As a gratification for those who already purchased the record, he promised to send "Alone", a track that didn’t make the final version of the album, "but is a singular planet that preempts the universe of the new album. It should always have stood alone and in these times of isolation and uncertainty it most certainly will connect".

The track was also made available for those who didn't purchase the record, by joining an official mailing list.

In this note, the tracklist of the upcoming album was also reveiled.
