Not long after Has It Leaked compiled its rundown of 2012’s best albums, so we must look ahead to the future for new music to get us salivating once again.
After what seems like an age from its initial announcement, Thom Yorke and friends will release Atoms For Peace’s debut album Amok in February, a certainty to be one of the most talked about albums of the year. With Nigel Goldrich at the production helm behind the creativity of Yorke, Joey Waronker and Flea, we’re sure to be in for a treat.
Already 2013 is set to have something in store to please everyone with confirmed upcoming returns from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, as well as Eels and Bring me the Horizon. Personally, I know I’ll be hyping up Foals’ release Holy Fire, the comeback of Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt, and the ever-elusive new Queens of the Stone Age record to no end. Others will definitely be anticipating Local Natives’ follow-up to the wildly popular Gorilla Manor, Major Lazer’s next auditory assault or Christopher Owens’ first solo album after his split from Girls.
Below we’ve compiled a list of some of 2013’s already most requested and hyped albums announced for the first quarter of the year. From the quantity of irrefutably talented artists and the wide ranging slew of genres mentioned at this early point, 2013 is set to have something for everyone and be an intriguing year of sonic pleasure.

BMTH’s trailer gives me the chills. Definitely the most anticipated in 2013!
I’m surprised CoCa isn’t on here, neither is Stone Sour.
it did say most anticipated. :P
The Ruby Suns – Christopher
I am personally looking forward to the new albums from Silverstein, Paramore, Streetlight Manifesto and hoping for a new album from Story of the Year, Greek Fire, Dashboard Confessional and some others in 2013
I have high hopes that 2013 will finally be the year that Jay Electronica drops his debut album.
No Paramore?
Its official release is a little later in the year, so we’re not too excited yet!
A$AP Rocky – finally!!
No!
A lot of people are waiting for that one.
Kid Cudi’s Indicud didn’t even make the list so this article is void.
I can’t wait for it Indicud personally and would also like to see it on the list. But, this is a community based website and it’s only got 2 Hype Points at the moment! As more people join the hype rating will become more and more relevant.
The Knife are dropping a new LP in 2013. It’s gonna be great.
Ahem… ARTPOP? And the many-times-postponed #willpower and OneRepublic’s Native. Yes, pop is also music, if quality pop.
Rustie had a half dozen excellent new tracks on his BBC Essential Mix last spring, so he’ll probably have something good out this year.
Are people still hyped at the possibility of new Animal Collective solo albums after the disappointment of CHz? I am!
Plus Gunplay’s proper debut!
OneRepublic’s Native…still waiting…
Of course Atoms For Peace. Closely followed by Tomahawk. Though Tomahawk’s single has me worried.
Oh and the majority of that list is cringe worthy.
Hi Kelly,
I think “Stone Letter” it’s the best song of Oddfellows, what were you worried about?
You missed Autechre’s Exai. Coming in march 3/4.
Other records not named here:
Stereophonics – Graffiti on the train March 4th
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Specter at the feast March 18th/19th
Depeche Mode – Delta
Machine March 26th
Holy Fire and Hummingbird have been my favorite releases of 2013 so far! Really hyping for ‘Comedown Machine’ from The Strokes, ‘MVOTC’ from Vampire Weekend, ‘MGMT’ from MGMT. Also PEACE, HAIM, Kid Cudi and whatever Kanye is planning.
