During the 2013 MTV VMA's, Eminem announced the release of his upcoming album, MMLPII. It will be the sequel to his 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be the rapper's eighth studio album by American rapper Eminem and will be released through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. Production for the album took place during 2011 to 2013, at several recording studios and was handled by various record producers, including himself, Rick Rubin, No ID and Dr. Dre.

Royce da 5'9" appeared on RapFix with his group Slaughterhouse, on August 30, 2012, and talked about what he has heard of the album in the moment. Royce told: "I'm not so sure how the world is going to respond from some of the things that I've heard from him". He also noted that the things he has heard gave him nightmares. Needles to say, this is one of the most anticipated albums of 2013.

Opinions have been split down the middle regarding the two first singles, Berserk and Survival. Listen to Survival below, which also features on the video game soundtrack for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The track list, which can be found below, reveals the album is going to feature Skylar Grey, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Nate Ruess.

I noticed in the article this guy says ‘Sequel’ to the first mmlp, go back and watch the interview of Eminem talking about this album where he clearly states this album is not a sequel of the first MMLP but a revisit to it, not a sequel. The first MMLP was about his life, how he grew up, he wanted to get stuff of his chest, he doesn’t have that life anymore and he has nothing left to prove. I believe he just wants to sit back and rap now, he has already said everything he needed to say.

This album is fuckin great!!! It’s sad to see that there a some ignorant people out there saying Recovery had bad lyricism??? wtf do y’all listen to if Recovery was bad I don’t understand it. “But that’s what they do when they get jealous they confuse it, it’s not hip hop it’s pop cuz I found a hella way to fuse it” y’all some hoes thinking something is pop cuz it’s not a boom clap beat from the 90’s. Eminem knows what he’s doing and I think this album is deff better than recovery, but recovery was awesome. So fuck y’all

After hearing the whole album a lot of songs sound like they are off of the original MMLP. Eminem did it again! People better not hate on this album it is honestly perfect. MMLP2 kicks some serious ass and Slim Shady is back!

This album had all the right elements for perfection, one of the biggest things that hit me in this album was the song ” Headlights ” I never expected this from Em, to make a song in a positive way regarding his mother. I actually got a little choked up hearing it the first time. Monster, Love Game, So Far, are just some of my favorites this is literally the best album of the year and upcoming.

album leaked and can be found on kickass torrents.Bad Guy, Legacy, Brainless, Asshole, The Monster, and Stronger Than I Was are tight, and Rap God is i insane…he rips it at 4:30! Lyrical genius for sure, tracks beg for multiple listens to catch everything he says! He apologizes to his mother in Headlights and raps about going to far and how he hates hearing the songs he made dissin her. It’s certainly worthy of the album title! Can’t wait to hear the 5 bonus tracks on the deluxe version.

this album is a bit soft, like every other song sounds like a love song or something, and the tracks where the women are singing as well are just trash pretty much, holy crap I was waiting for this album and every single track that came out I was defending and saying its just his evolution. I am now disappointed, I hope this isn’t his last album, truly the only ones that were good I believe were just the early released tracks, hes talking about how he can still rip people apart but I dont really see it.

no but if you wanna call it a sequel to one of the most rigid albums out there then maybe it should have more than one song with some fire in it. its full of songs made by him and some women, and the words arent even impressively put together other than rap god. It disheartens me to say it but its my honest opinion. take a look at songs from the mmlp. Can you honestly say that any songs on this new album can compare to a song like “the way I am” “kill you” “amityville” “kim” “criminal” or even the more pop type songs like ” the real slim shady”? he shoulda just named it a self titled album and not try to raise expectations like it would be another version of mmlp. sorry you dislike my opinion but its hard for me to say, I know his songs by heart and can sing with every verse, just to give you a picture of how much I like his songs.

This MMLP2 makes The Recovery sound like a classic and I hated that album. I been a Eminem fan since he was underground, he seems to have forgot where he came from andis making pop music. I had a good feeling this album was going to reunite my love for eminem but nope. The tracks that were leaked were decent, so I thought they would of been the weak alnum tracks. Which is what normally happens. No they seem to be the better tracks. Damn pop music and iTunes kids, wouldn’t know music if it bit their asses. Such a cop out. I know I will hear “your not a true fan as you would like his work all the time” that’s bollocks. I like music when it’s good and it makes my hair stand up. I’m a very disappointed fan, It’s sad to say eminems music was better when he was on drugs!!!

Yeah, a hipster because you are acting ignorant as hell. I didn’t like the special guest tracks but most of the other songs were just like his old work. He writes a few good songs every album and sells it. Don’t understand how fans don’t see that pattern yet.

This is what i’m talking about being rude -> “Damn pop music and iTunes kids, wouldn’t know music if it bit their asses.” I can at least agree with you some of the tracks on the album are weak, lyrics are what kept them alive(besides The Monster, that was awful)

Ok I guess I was a little harsh. It’s just kids nowadays don’t understand where eminem and music come from. I remember running to the shop to buy up in smoke and watching all the time. For me this was when music was real and very talented, nnowadays it’s just cheesy hooks and soft llovely tunes, I like to jump in my car and blast out a heavy tune with a big 808 drum and heavy snare and cruise unfortunately I can’t do this anymore with this type of music. Cheers

I agree, today it is less about the quality, and more about the mindfunking message/popularity based on views.itunes sales, which are based on GARBAGE ASS HOOKS ETC. like “we can’t top and we won’t stop/ the monster under my bed in my funking head, these voices etc” ALL OF THESE SAID HOOKS are flagrantly satanic so much so that its a joke on the listener

You’re entitled to your opinion and I agree with you to a point I guess since that’s the real Slim Shady. I’m just saying that we haven’t even seen Slim Shady in the slightest form for a while now. Some people could say his Bad Meets Evil stuff is Slim but I don’t really agree. I think the last time we saw Slim Shady at all was on Relapse and that was a long ass time ago.
