During the 2013 MTV VMA's, Eminem announced the release of his upcoming album, MMLPII. It will be the sequel to his 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be the rapper's eighth studio album by American rapper Eminem and will be released through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. Production for the album took place during 2011 to 2013, at several recording studios and was handled by various record producers, including himself, Rick Rubin, No ID and Dr. Dre.
Royce da 5'9" appeared on RapFix with his group Slaughterhouse, on August 30, 2012, and talked about what he has heard of the album in the moment. Royce told: "I'm not so sure how the world is going to respond from some of the things that I've heard from him". He also noted that the things he has heard gave him nightmares. Needles to say, this is one of the most anticipated albums of 2013.
Opinions have been split down the middle regarding the two first singles, Berserk and Survival. Listen to Survival below, which also features on the video game soundtrack for Call of Duty: Ghosts.
The track list, which can be found below, reveals the album is going to feature Skylar Grey, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Nate Ruess.

Song sucks
I think Berzerk was a great lead single sure the verses weren’t that great but the chorus and hook were very catchy and classical Slim. Survival is a COD promotional single and i know Alot of people dont like when he yells but i mean he kind of has too for this type of song in the end it does what it needs to do and gets you pumped. Chorus is weak but the verses are pretty decent. Rap God was sensational the best I’ve herd from Eminem in a while his flow, rhyme scheme, and technicality were superb. Enough said. Now the Monster as a rap song isn’t the best in fact i think this is one of the worst single he’s ever put out BUT I’m 100% sure the label forced him to do it and after it all it is a radio single made to sell and become mainstream this song could even go to #1 on the charts. Chorus is catchy verses are simple it ok at best. Yes there wasn’t anything as poppy on the original MMLP but times change if this is the worst track on the album and the most pop one I’ll be fine lets not right the album off because of one mediocre single.
In a sort of twisted insane way I hope this album does not leak prior to the official November 5 release date. It would just make it that more satisfying to hear.

Honestly, I haven’t been a fan of anything he’s done since “Eminem Show” so taking a step back like this, I have high hopes for this album, but will not be holding my breath.

How has this not leaked yet?? Not just rhetorical, wondering what measures the label must have taken.
I read all these comments like “his old stuff was better” or “everything after Eminem Show sucks.” If he wrote another album that sounded exactly like MMLP1, there’d be complaints about how he isn’t original anymore. Instead, he wrote music that he decided best represents him right now. And he gets hate for it anyway.
And what is the standard at which we can say a song “sucks”? There’s a lot of musicians/bands that I do not like at all, but that doesn’t mean they suck. There’s a lot of people who would disagree with me, just as plenty of people tell me the music I listen to sucks. It doesn’t, it just isn’t for everyone.
Can we please stop talking about “this sucks, old was better” and just appreciate the fact that we get to hear new music from one of the greatest rappers of all time?

I’m not saying people have to like his new songs. I just find it annoying when people say a song sucks, as if it is a fact. I have no problem reading an opinion of someone who doesn’t care for a song or an album. What gets to me is when they try to push their opinion on others and rant about how the artist used to be better.

A little tidbit of info from Paul Rosenberg, Em’s attorney/manager. If this is true, I has a sad.
if this is true then they are just stupid. most people i know (myself included) use the leak to judge if they want to buy the album or just certain songs. Being a fan of eminem i will undoubtably be buying the deluxe version but if (when) it leaks i will listen to it until i get the hard copy. Lots of artists have said it, the leak doesnt matter because if its good music people will still buy it, if they are a true fan people will still buy it. Plus it almost reduces the backlash of comments saying “dont waste your money” “cant believe i bought this” “trash” etc. They may not sell as much but is a couple thousand copies that big of a deal to a huge superstar?! No.
Don’t try to justify a leak. People can wait and buy the album on the day of it’s release, or if they want to wait and see if it’s good or not, wait until the day of release and someone will upload it then. Either way you will get it when it’s released. I listen to leaks as well, but don’t try to justify that a leak is important.

If you know anything about Eminem you would know that each one of his albums has a different style. MMLP2 may have a sort of similar flow to it but that is because it’s a revisit to MMLP. If you really thought Em would completely change his style (like he did from Relapse to Recovery) on an album that is essentially a sequel, then you are an idiot and are clearly not understanding. Plus, you need to work on your grammar and spelling.

Compared to other rappers the 4 songs I’ve heard from the album blow them out of the water. However I can’t say that they measure up to the original MMLP, but that album was one of the greatest of all time. The bars set ridiculously high, but if anyone can reach it its Em.
