After a hole lot of droplets of songs, swedish Kate Boy is preparing to release her long-awaited debut album.
After dropping another song, "Higher", included in an EP featuring this previously unreleased as long as well-known others ("Northern Lights", "Open Fire", "Self Control" and "The Way We Are"), the trio announced in an interview that the album, recorded in the Rak Studios, will be released by the swedish spring (between May and July).
They told Brazilian musical blog Pick Up The Headphones the inspiration for the album were themes like humanity, equality and evolution and, when asked about what they wanted to transmit to the public, they said: "Basically, that's what we want to present in our first album. We want that it touches the human being heart and make him reflect about how we can evolve with equality and the feeling of unity. We have the opportunity to talk about it through music, and that's why we want it to be something significant and near to the heart. This way we can connect with our public and them with themselves." (Loose translation).
don’t get me wrong, i’m very, very happy they’re finally releasing their album, but it bothers me that it’s not gonna be really new material. i mean, we’ve already heard about half the album (counting until “midnight sun” was revealed, as it was released along with the album announcement). new songs are only about 5 in the standard (2 of which we’ve heard live, so 3) + 1 of the bonus tracks. i hope that at least it feels like a good, solid album.
