M83's new album Junk will be released April 8 via Mute. It's the follow-up to 2011's breakthrough Hurry Up, We're Dreaming and the soundtrack for the Tom Cruise sci-fi movie Oblivion in 2013. Details are slim beyond the album's release date — its cover and tracklist haven't been made available yet — but the album has been finished since December, and Gonzales described its sound in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "It's a very strong album with a lot of eclecticism," said Gonzales. "It's very epic... It's also quite different from the previous albums which is what I'm the most proud of."

Where’s the epicness? Bar the singles, has he released this album as a joke? I’m a massive M83 fan and this just so ..meh!

It’s definitely something new, but it’s not that bad come on, the vibes and feelings of this album are clearly from M83, and in my opinnion it’s a very good album.

speaking as someone who has no opinion either way of m83’s back catalogue… i’m enjoying this album. seems like an ideal summer record for driving to the beach. lots of good vibes…. 70s revival music.

So massively disappointed by this. Half of it is like music from an 80’s TV show but not in a good way, in a bland credit music way.
