Scotland’s excitingly innovative and consistently experimental rock four-piece Vukovi have announced that they will release their debut album through the New York & Manchester based label LAB Records on 10 March 2017 when they also kick off their headline UK tour with a date at Glasgow’s King Tut’s.
Vukovi’s latest single releases Animal & La Di Da, which both appear on the eponymous debut LP, have presented a delectable preview of what’s to come with spot on thumping powered up rock pop which contain the kinds of rhythms and lyrics that linger fizzling around in your brain for days.
The band have equally applied their creativity to their album’s pre-order options with memory sticks containing the album and pages torn from the bands vocalist Janine Shilstone own hand written lyric book being available alongside signed CD’s and t-shirts.
Although we can be sure that the album will have a noisy rock idiosyncrasy at its core the band have said that the twelve songs take on numerous themes such as individuality, drug abuse, depression and suicide. “The record might sound quirky. But there are many darker notes in there” says Shilstone who also explains, of her favourite track on the album, I’m Wired, “I wrote it trying to describe being in a relationship with severe depression and trying to express that you need that person even though you don’t show it most of the time”; these statements tantalising emphasise that there are plenty of Vukovi layers to explore and enjoy.
