During the 2013 MTV VMA's, Eminem announced the release of his upcoming album, MMLPII. It will be the sequel to his 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be the rapper's eighth studio album by American rapper Eminem and will be released through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. Production for the album took place during 2011 to 2013, at several recording studios and was handled by various record producers, including himself, Rick Rubin, No ID and Dr. Dre.

Royce da 5'9" appeared on RapFix with his group Slaughterhouse, on August 30, 2012, and talked about what he has heard of the album in the moment. Royce told: "I'm not so sure how the world is going to respond from some of the things that I've heard from him". He also noted that the things he has heard gave him nightmares. Needles to say, this is one of the most anticipated albums of 2013.

Opinions have been split down the middle regarding the two first singles, Berserk and Survival. Listen to Survival below, which also features on the video game soundtrack for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The track list, which can be found below, reveals the album is going to feature Skylar Grey, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Nate Ruess.

Alot of you are fucking retarded and shouldn’t be talking music!!! the RECOVERY was amazing, granted it wasn’t the psychotic Em, but it was Em giving you Em! It was a very deep album, i myself am battling addiction and realize how deep RECOVERY is…RECOVERY is perhaps Em’s realest album to date! smh to all of u that think it was “pop” records just to sell! y’all have no clue how deep and real that album is!

As for MMLP2…Royce Da 5’9 says what he’s heard from MMLP2 has given him nightmares, so i’m sure you can expect alot of what you heard on MMLP to be on MMLP2!

We have a smart person here. I don’t mean the sarcastically i mean it. Took words right out of my mouth. Just cause a record don’t sound like there older stuff don’t mean it isn’t them. I have high hope for the album.

people don’t remember that Em once had a song with a British pop singer on it, Dido. Stan is probably Em’s best song ever. But yet they’re quick to say his song with the fun. lead singer Nate Ruess will be terrible lol.

I know right?! Did you catch two references to two songs on the Marshal Mathers LP? “Six Minutes Slim Shady, You’re On” from “Remember Me?” then there was the first line of the 3rd verse from “I’m Back” “Take seven kids from Columbine/ Put ’em all in a line, add an AK-47, a revolver, a nine”.

      Am I missing anymore?

Right if you’re not a serious Eminem fan, stop reading now. It annoys me to fuck when people say Relapse or Recovery were shit because they really weren’t and people were just following the crowd when they say it. Yes Relapse did have a lot of songs that were maybe warped and mental and fucked up, but if you’re calling it ‘too dark’ you’re really not an Eminem fan. Songs like Same Song and Dance and Insane were, lyrically dark, perhaps even horrocore but thats what Eminem does best. Lyrically Hell: The Sequel is better than Recovery and Relapse. Recovery was a lot different to Relapse yes, but it is NOT repeat NOT ‘shitty love songs’ If you listen to Recovery all the way through you can notice the different aspects of it. If you believe the whole ‘Lil Wayne diss on No Love thing’ then that makes it an even better song. So Bad was a good song, Talkin 2 Myself was an immensely good song and You’re Never Over is one of his best songs post rehab. You may accuse me of ‘riding his dick’ but you’re the ones saying Relapse is whack just cause Em said it was whack. He’s a perfectionist, and to him it wasn’t perfect so he knocked it, but it was still really good. Stop dissing Em, because when he goes away you’ll be begging him to come back.

I’m a serious eminem fan, and you just sound stupid. Basically telling people that their opinions are wrong, and not even giving reasoning as to why YOU like each song?

this is exactly what i try to tell my friends, yes relapse and recovery might be alot different from his earlier stuff but shit happens and people change, anyone who disses the two albums just because of the crowd then they clearly don’t like eminem as much as they claim to, i completely agree with what you’re saying and anyone who disagrees need to stop calling themselves a true fan

“Music Box” was an awesome song and all his albums are genius, even if you go back and listen to his old ones you always find something that you didn’t notice, like a reference or a sound that has to do with a reference or a name drop, and im like jeez how does this guy keep up with so many current events, some of it is the most obscure references ever. I believe that is what makes him such a good lyricist is the little things collaborating into one big song.

I listened to Recovery and thought it was weak, not following a “crowd”

I had Eminem’s infinite tape before the guy was even famous. I get sick and tired of these “2010” era Eminem fans who don’t know anything

I’ll say the same I said in the “Rap God” video comments…

    People bashing, again…

This is a lot differend than what he used to do in his Slim Shady
days. It’s really different from his latest years’ work, too. I still
love it. Why don’t you just stop listening to the albums you don’t like, if that’s not too hard to do for you lol… People going “*Album X* is for retarded people, everyone knows *Album Y* is better” : what do I do if I liked both?

Am I the only person here that thinks that ‘The Eminem Show’ was Em’s best album and ‘Encore’ was his worst? Don’t get me wrong I love encore but it just doesn’t compare to all of his other stuff.

Relapse wasn’t way too dark…it was no where near as dark as the original MMLP. Look at I’m Back, Kill You, Kim, Marshall Mathers, The Way I Am,Stan etc. Relapse followed the Slim Shady formula better than MMLP2 has, it’s execution just wasn’t that great. To be honest, he had some good songs on that. Hello, 3AM, We Made You, Beautiful, Careful What you WIsh for. Most of these songs were pulled down by the stupid accents and him trying too hard with being ‘Slim Shady’ when he just wasn’t that person anymore. Recovery was the other extreme, he tried too hard to NOT be Slim Shady. It was like having a whole album of Mockingbird with slightly less emotion and worse production. It had some decent songs, Not Afraid, 25 to Life etc. but even these were really spiked with poppy garbage, which really does represent the new Em, and he isn’t going to change back just cos other people want him to. Let him be, we have enough content to label him as one of the GOAT.

Relapse was his best album. I don’t even care if he later said it was crap. So dark, emotional and honest. I don’t like survival, its crap. Rap God is a great song, and berzerk is ok….

If you actually listen to the words in his songs carefully and see what he’s describing you’ll come to realize that he has never made a bad album. Sure there’s some that are better than others but he is in a class of his own, a true Rap god. you saying that relapse and recovery were bad just shows how simple minded you are. go listen to that “turn up” Bullshit you probably like.

“you saying that relapse and recovery were bad ”

So, just because some people thought they were bad, that means they are simple minded? WTF are you talking about?

I had the Infinite tape back in the 90s, probably before you were even born and I will tell you that Recovery sucked and Relapse was mediocre but better than Recovery… Recovery and Encore were both terrible albums
