Dyed In Grey began in NYC during the fall of 2009 when guitarist Adam Edgemont met guitarist Peter Luetzeler. Proving how small the world can be; Edgemont, a local Brooklyn musician, and Luetzeler, a German musician living in NYC, crossed each other’s paths on the infamous Craigslist musician’s classified. Two guitarists from worlds away, sharing a mindset to bring the metal world an original and intelligent fusion of technical genres, had come together by a chance of fates in the world's most famed city.

From the beginning, both Edgemont & Luetzeler immediately recognized their likeminded approach and similar tastes in regards to technical progressive metal and after just one jam session, Dyed in Grey was born. The two began to write intensively over the coming months and thus spawned a collection of beautifully melodic and devastatingly heavy progressive masterpieces. Shortly thereafter, they enlisted the services of studio drummer Travis Orbin (Darkest Hour, Periphery, SEA, and Of Legends) who added his own unique touch of rhythmic technicality and effortless grooves to the tracks.

In search to find the voice that could stand up next to this demanding sound the duo met Brooklyn vocalist Mark Wellington. With distinctive power and versatile range, Wellington added a lyrical brilliance to the splendor of Dyed in Grey's musical tapestry. The three piece would soon find their low-range counterpart in the intelligent fingerings of bassist Paul Loew; having been a veteran of the NY metal scene and avid fan of all things prog, Paul had no trouble settling in amongst his new band mates.

Dyed in Grey released their debut album entitled "The Abandoned Part" in May of 2013, a well received and exciting first release to begin DiG's legacy. The release marked Dyed in Grey’s true birth to the mainstream audience and was followed by an explosive increase in internet notoriety, album reviews, and social media interest. Most recently, the group rounded out the lineup with the addition of Shawn Crowder on drums, an accomplished percussionist and Berklee College of Music graduate. Shawn's roots in jazz fusion and complementary skills in metal chops have seamlessly combined with the group and foreshadowed the continued caliber DiG brings to the prog table.

The journey Dyed in Grey embarked on has been filled with obstacles and triumph, overcoming distances, and perseverance in maintaining their musical integrity. They are committed to sharing their music with the world and look forward to ushering their progressive fusion maelstrom to new fans. DiG is also diligently working on a second effort, a yet unnamed 5-song EP with a tentative spring 2014 release. This upcoming release promises to deliver all the ingredients you expect from Dyed in Grey, along with some new thrills that will surely get the stamp of approval from metal fans around the world!.
