Discovered him a long time ago, but needed some time to grow up to start really enjoying his music. He is a big hybrid of everything, some jazz, hip hop, IDM and some other stuff – very hard to label for me.

as for the rapping stuff from OF i dig Earl the most, Tyler is cool, but just cool for me. Hodgy is somehow worth listening to too. I think that because of Built to Spill I got into indie rock much. They should be a lot more recognizable imho. Modest Mouse and Sonic Youth are also very important for that genre i guess.

I guess Moment of Truth by Gang Starr is dopest hip hop album I’ve ever heard. Lyrics are so conscious and wise, Preemo beats are beasts as always, daaaaamn. Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is also awesome, and Doris from Earl Sweatshirt is the best stuff released in 2013.

I guess Moment of Truth by Gang Starr is dopest hip hop album I’ve ever heard. Lyrics are so conscious and wise, daaaaamn. Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is also awesome, and Doris from Earl Sweatshirt is the best stuff released in 2013.

Yeah, maybe Tyler is the most eccentric, but imho Earl is the best rapper in OF. For me he’s A LOT better than Tyler. I think that Earl Sweatshirt is underrated in mainstream media and he always will be since mainstream media piss on sensitivity and real artistry which are typical for him.

I’d recommend listening to Amon Tobin. His music is mostly built on very interestingly cut samples (excluding ISAM album). Often labeled as acid jazz, mainly because of complex composition i guess. Personally, I am not able to label it precisely but it’s mostly electronic, weird and a bit jazzy.
