During the 2013 MTV VMA's, Eminem announced the release of his upcoming album, MMLPII. It will be the sequel to his 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be the rapper's eighth studio album by American rapper Eminem and will be released through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. Production for the album took place during 2011 to 2013, at several recording studios and was handled by various record producers, including himself, Rick Rubin, No ID and Dr. Dre.

Royce da 5'9" appeared on RapFix with his group Slaughterhouse, on August 30, 2012, and talked about what he has heard of the album in the moment. Royce told: "I'm not so sure how the world is going to respond from some of the things that I've heard from him". He also noted that the things he has heard gave him nightmares. Needles to say, this is one of the most anticipated albums of 2013.

Opinions have been split down the middle regarding the two first singles, Berserk and Survival. Listen to Survival below, which also features on the video game soundtrack for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The track list, which can be found below, reveals the album is going to feature Skylar Grey, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Nate Ruess.

YOU GUYS ARE MORONS RELAPSE IS SOME OF HIS BEST WRITING EVER IT DID NOT SELL WELL CAUSE YOU GUYS CANT RELATE TO WHAT SOMEONE GOES THREW IN DARK ADDICTION. SAME SONG AND DANCE IS BRILLIANT. HE APOLAGISED FOR IT BECAUSE EMINEM IS NOT USED TO HIS ALBUMS NOT SELLING WELL AND HE THEN DID RECOVERY (ALBUM OF THE YEAR) WHICH WAS MORE MAIN STREAME AND PROVED IF HE DUMBED DOWN LYRICS PEOPLE WOULD EAT IT UP. LISTEN TO THE WRITING IN RELAPSE AND U WILL SEE IF YOU ARE NOT A DUMB HIP HOP HEAD WHO WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT GIRLS AND STUPID CRAP. EMINEM IS A GENIUS AND HIS WRITING IS BRILLIANT. RELAPSE IS SOME OF THE MOST COMPLICATED LYRICS EVER. IF YOU THINK DIFFERENT LISTEN TO SAME SONG AND DANCE. BOUND YA THATS HOW THEY FOUND YA WITH PILES OF DOWNERS AROUND YA !!!

HIS NEXT ALBUM WILL BE KICK ASS AS WELL.

if youre a true eminem fan you shouldnt give a fuck what albums are better then others.. should just be happy that hes back and still making music rather than retiring or dying from overdose…

I must admit, until recently the only Eminem stuff I liked was off Recovery. But after reading comments here about him taking a risk by naming this new album MMLP2, I gave the original a listen and I love it. I guess it goes to show that music taste does change over time.
    Psyched for this album!

Eminem is a god, but the fan base are morons. Why are you guys all arguing about who knows Eminem’s true music and “recovery sucks blah blah blah”. I mean look at the comments on the Common Courtesy album, that’s a fan base that truly just loves the bands music and don’t put each other down. I for one became a fan of Eminem after Recovery came out, and explored every single one of his other albums and can agree that his old stuff was truer to “Eminem’s sound” but it doesn’t change the fact that Recovery is a good album. You guys need to chill out and just see what happens with Slim on this album. It doesn’t matter who likes what, we are all on this page for the same reason Good music.

Just want to say I completely agree with you! I don’t post often, but i follow this website everyday. I am so pumped for Common Courtesy and that whole group over there is amazing! I wish that as fans of eminem, we could have such great discussions, and news, without all this crap regarding “true eminem music”

I completely agree with this. I love A Day to Remember, and Eminem. Why can’t we have the same compassion, and discussion that the Common courtesy page has? Who cares who the “true” eminem is. Matter of fact, Eminem IS Eminem and personally i can;t wait to hear the next chapter of his music. We should be excited for that, not fighting and arguing about what is is “good” music.

being that ive been a fan since infinite and and seen and heard where hes come from to now i find hes conformed in a way to please the average RADIO listener hence why any fan thats been around would say what these people are saying. I fully agree he needs to do more about his feelings but not in a POP vibe. True Shit Always Shines If You Stay True People will forever Feel You – Tech N9ne. Hence why older music from em i love more cuz you can feel the emotion. Relapse was a flop to many ppl but that dosnt negate the fact that some songs on that album were dope same as recovery but as both as a hole they were not up to par for me. Do i think this new album will live up tho the hype of MMLP no idea but i can only wait and see. Just like i have to wait and see if the Tech N9ne and Eminem colab will ever happen. you just never know whats left in the tank. sorry if ive written to much just really had to vent to many years i sat back as i watch and read forms on the same bull every year

Everyone complaining about Eminem albums should relax about which one is the best. Every album he has ever made has been a classic and unique in its own way. He does it intentionally so every album doesn’t have the same sound.

I liked his music better when he was an insane drug addict. That dark psycho vibe is the main reason I liked Enimem in the first place. I hated recovery, relapse was decent but it was no slim shady lp or marshal mathers lp. I hope this one is intense and raw like his old shit, listening to sane people isn’t fun
